Structure of EAN-128

Including the Quiet Zones, the maximum physical length of EAN-128 is 6.5 inches and the maximum amount of data encoded is 48. UCC is composed of the following characters, from left to right:

A Leading Quiet Zone It is composed of the starting A, B, or C and FNC1. The Start Character defines the corresponding code set to be used to start the symbol, and it helps EAN-128 to be distinguished from generalized Code 128.
Encoding data it, including the Application Identifier, is encoded in alphabetic character sets A, B, or C.
Symbol Check Character: It should be included as the last symbol element before the stop character.
The Stop Character.
A Quiet Zone ends: From left to right of the EAN-128, the width of the quiet zone should be at least 10x.

Encodable Data of EAN-128

Like Code 128 does, it also has three data character code sets, including code sets A, B, and C.

Code Set A: ASCII characters 00 to 95 (0-9, A-Z, and control codes) and several special characters like CODE B and C, FNC 1-4, and SHIFT.
Code Set B: ASCII characters 32 to 127 (0-9, a-z) and several special characters (CODE B and C, FNC 1-4, and SHIFT).
Code Set C: 00-99 (encodes every two digits with one code) and three special characters (CODE A, CODE B, and FNC1).
